Useful tips - Packing
Moving cargo or personal belongings always involves time, nerves and money. In our daily lives, we take on the responsible task of making sure that each and every one of the items provided reaches its destination quickly and safely.
From the moment you call, we get an idea of how the transport of your belongings is likely to go, but we are aware that you may be using a service like this for the first time. To make the transport process easier, we've prepared some golden tips to make your move easier:
- Plan your transport as early as possible. It often happens that we receive a request for transport in 30 minutes. Unfortunately, due to the nature of our work, we can't always respond to requests that quickly. It is good to keep in mind that most transportation runs have a minimum duration of one hour. Each morning, a schedule of van operations is prepared that accommodates the previous day's transport requests. If you call shortly before the transport service is needed, the vehicles may already be on demand at the other end of town. It is highly recommended that you plan your transportation from the day before, and when possible, even 2-3 days in advance. This way, you'll have peace of mind that you won't be looking for a last-minute available van.
- Make an inspection of the property. Decide if you're going to take everything or leave some things out. Separate the things that will stay in the apartment and make a list for the others. You will be amazed how much this piece of paper can help you!
- Consider the packaging. It is important that each item is packed appropriately to maintain its integrity during transport. Obtain the necessary materials such as:
- Sacks - Preferably sessile as they are stronger.
- Boxes - Look for old ones at a nearby store or buy new ones if needed.
- Duct tape - No need to explain, right? Just don't think that 1 cm wide one will do the trick. Prepare something wider.
- Stretch film - Sold on rolls in hypermarkets and does an ideal job of protecting furniture and appliances from minor scratches.
- Wrapping paper - You can use it to seal empty spaces and to pre-seal glass and porcelain items from impact. You can replace it with old newspapers.
- Fibre sheets - Pick up thin sheets of fibre from a builders' merchant and use them to protect flat and fragile surfaces from scratching. They are very useful when transporting pictures, mirrors, TVs, monitors.
- Sharpie - preferably red. Be sure to mark boxes of breakables and be the last to remove them from the home.
- Sesal cords, pig tails and other materials for tying.

4. Check the size of the objects.
Regardless of exactly what you'll be transporting, make sure it will pass through all doors, hallways and elevators. If the item turns out to be too big, it will have to be disassembled. Our staff will be able to help you with this task, but it is advisable to mention it in advance so we can bring the necessary tools.
5. Loading the property - with friends or with professionals?
Consider which is the better option for loading your possessions. When requesting transport, you will also need to make a request for workers in case there is no one to help you. Often, customers complain that the porters will be too slow to load the possessions. Keep in mind that any delay in the van results in a rescheduling for the day. For this reason, we aim to load your possessions within an hour or two, depending on the amount of items. If you have friends in good health who will help with the loading and unloading, it is necessary to complete the course within two hours.
